When you'd like your container displays to emphasize a Yuletide theme, combine the traditional red and green colours. Some evergreen stalks accented with sprays of red berry branches and red netting or ribbon makes a festive and fun arrangement you can enjoy for the Holidays and into the New Year. Add even more interest and texture by adding painted dried pine cones.

Magnolia leaves are featured in these urns. Urns make interesting planter containers as do vintage-style cream cans, wood boxes, wire baskets and even barrels.

Decorative Planter Helpful Hints and Suggestions

Fill pots or urns with sand or soil (be sure to place your containers before you fill with sand or soil)

Anchor greenery such as pine, boxwood, cedar, etc. into the sand/soil

Fill in around the greenery and tree material with other greenery from your local greenhouse.

Add beautiful colour with berry sprigs, magnolia leaves, pine cones and even Christmas balls.

Finish with bows, ribbon, burlap or decorative mesh. You can even 'let it glow' by adding lights!

It's a good idea to water your plant creations, even in winter; if you live where it freezes, provide water whenever things warm up enough to thaw the soil.
